The 3rd Bulgarian Language Speech Contest Held at TUFS

December 18, 2025

On Sunday, December 14, 2025, the “3rd Bulgarian Language Speech Contest” was held at Prometheus Hall within Agora Global at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS).
Organized by the Embassy of Bulgaria in Japan and co-hosted by TUFS, this contest was held in Tokyo for the first time. Its objectives were to enhance Bulgarian language proficiency and promote exchange and friendship with Bulgarian speakers.
Fifteen participants competed across three divisions: General Division, Student Beginner/Intermediate Division, and Student Advanced Division. From our university, Mr. Koki Amitani, a graduate student in the Graduate School of Global Studies, participated in the Student Advanced Division and won second place.
Prior to the speech contest, the “3rd Bulgaria Trivia Contest” was also held at the same venue. Participants tackled questions on Bulgaria's geography, history, culture, traditions, sports, economy, and relations between Bulgaria and Japan.
The venue was filled with great excitement, attracting not only students from our university but also members of the general public interested in Bulgaria and participants from high schools with ties to the Bulgarian Embassy in Japan.
